We're Underway!

The day of our departure has finally arrived! This year, we are meeting at All Saints in the late morning to get underway to our first stop in Olathe, Kansas at a more "reasonable time" — in other words, not 1 a.m.!
Penny and the Children's Ministry prepared a surprise for all the travelers. Each mission team member got a "bus bag" filled with a t-shirt, a toy to use at the orphanage, Mexico songbook, etc. We are all excited about these wonderful gifts!
One of the best things about the trip is that it is inter-generational. This year, we have a mixture of ages as well as veterans and newbies.
We rented a trailer to haul behind the bus to carry all the supplies that we are bringing — many items that the generous folks at All Saints and others have donated.
Before we left, Kristine had our group form a circle and "commissioned" us as a team leaving to serve at Casa Hogar — we know that we are "blessed to be a blessing."
There are old friends . . . . and lots of new friends. There's nothing like a 30 hour bus trip to help people learn about each other. For veterans, this is one of the reasons we coming back because of the "richness" of the relationships that get formed on our team.
After the final loading of the trailer and the bus, we rolled out of the All Saints parking lot at 12:30 p.m. ready to see how God would use each of at Casa Hogar and border area around Laredo, Texas.
